Backups are crucial to
the survival of your business. If a catastrophic failure
permanently disables your computer system, it will have
grave consequences for your business, unless you have
a proper backup.

| WHAT TO BACK UP |
|
 |
Many businesses are not
fully aware of what must be backed up. Here is a run
down
Files
Back up daily all files you create and work on. These
are Photos, Word or Excel files and PowerPoint presentations.
Email
If your business uses e-mail, you should back this
up daily. Usually, e-mails are stored in one file,
but this can vary from system to system. Your IT
company should be fully aware of how to back up all
e-mails.
Address Book
If you have a list of all your contacts in your address
book, this should be backed up too. If you use Outlook
Express for your e-mail, you probably use this to
keep track of all your contacts.
Accounting Information
You may find that your accounting software contains
all your transactions and the history of your company
accounts. It is imperative to keep a hard copy of
this as well as backing up the electronic version.
Other data files
Make sure you back up applications containing data
about your clients or your business. In addition,
Microsoft Office templates, Speech software files,
Word Autocorrect options and even your Favourites
folder, should all be backed up.
Our experience has led
us to take a very strict view on the importance of
backup. If you do not back up
your systems, you could be destroying your business.
