Documenting how
your system is set up is crucial for troubleshooting
and future configuration issues.

Configuration
Once your system is installed, you should document
the configuration. There are many ways to set up
a typical server or software, so knowing what configuration
your system is in will help future troubleshooting.
Change Control
Every time we make a change to your system, we write
it down. We write down information like date, time
and type of change, as well as what equipment was
changed. This way, should a change adversely affect
the network, we will be able to see what is needed
to fix it.
Asset Management
We can create a log of all your IT equipment. This
comes in handy when calling the equipment manufacturers
about technical issues, or the insurance company
if your equipment is stolen.
IT Operations Manual
You're a small to medium-sized business, so why would you need an IT Operations
Manual? This manual could contain everything related to IT in your company:
ADSL configuration, software, suppliers and contacts, printercartridge information,
your e-mail and Internet policy, and your anti-virus policy. Why look in several
places when you can find all your information in one manual? Saves time, doesn't
it?
